In the Agora

This was in the Agora area, the whole set of ruins that surrounds the Acropolis. This isn't the Parthenon (I didn't go up to the Acropolis cause I'm seeing it in February anyways, and it was 20 Euro), but is apparently the best preserved religous building of its type in Greek.

If you go to Greece, brush up on your mythology. I bought a big book on it, cause everything ties into it, and the stories are fascinating in and of themselves. Athens is quite awesome, the area I was staying in was old Athens, which is amazing. Tightly twisting roads that all lead up to the Acropolis - it's quite cool. Unfortunately, it's tourist central, so everythings a little watered down and expensive. I spent a while being Captain Tourist around the main sites as I had nothing to arm myself with to become anything else. I spent way too much money, but all the ruins and everything sprouting from everywhere are thoroughly awe inspiring.

I couldn't find anywhere to rent a bike, which really stank, cause I spent alot of time following recomendations to find one, but none of the places had anything. I ran around on the subway and went and explored some of the rest of the city. Quite unineresting generally, until you walk down the Indian market streets which are psycho, but super sweet.

That's about it for Athens. I'm not sure if I liked it more than Rome, but that doesn't really matter at the end of the day. They're both quite cool. Posted by Picasa
