Are these kids from the gypsy camp or ones from Albania who received the shoebox gifts? What nationality were the people in the gypsy town? Thanks for all the pictures and the writing! We devour it all. There are a LOT of girls in the program. You'd never even mentioned a Lisa before.
I'm sorry to hear about the lack of historical background you had hoped would go much deeper. The positive spin that I can't help but think of is how much your own indepth reading about church history and general European history will have time and space stamps all over it - many of us do not have that yet.
Well happy trails Geordan. Cody is so looking forward to exploring with you, and I hope it works out to meet up with Evan too. Please call sometime when you get back from Athens. We're out of town next weekend. It has gone so quickly for you, but well worthwhile from what we read. You can invite your Capernwray lower mainland buddies to attend Granville April 23rd and hear your new awesome pastor, and then come for lunch after along with friends from church. Getting ahead of myself, but we're starting to get excited about having you back! BTW - James got his learners yesterday! We'll have him well broken in so you won't have to endure scary rides like he did! :) Whew - that was long, but you seem to read and answer blog comments so I'm getting carried away.
Beth said... Geordan called today so I've got answers in case anyone else is intested. These kids are from the Gypsy camp they visited twice. Lots of different nationalities, but in this town they all spoke Greek. Kids were quite rowdy on the 2nd trip so the students had to use all their bags of trick!! He's keen to do more traveling with Cody after next Sunday, and he's also keen to be back home to see everyone and put into practice all he's learned - "in real life". In answer to some of us wondering about Geordan bringing home a girlfriend he quite firmly says that he's made several really great and deep friendships, but nothing more than that. He didn't mind the question though - kind of expected it. I couldn't resist any longer. :) Was great talking to him. He has a bunch of papers to write still, and he's already thinking about packing for the next leg, what stuff to ship back home, etc. He took his BCIT exam today for the program he wants, and they all leave for Athens tomorrow so time is compressed. ~ Beth
